Default Why Remove Tattered Cape?

Just wondering what people's ideas are regarding the removal of Tattered Cape drops?

I was going to buy one since it no longer drops - thinking I may need it for any future Gwen quests. Now I'm starting to wonder if it would just end up being junk taking up a storage slot.

Right now, I'm thinking I don't need it because:

1) If they implement a future Gwen quest, it would be unfair to have Tattered Cape be a required part of it. Everyone that doesn't have one (i.e. started Prophecies later) would be left out. In which case they would be excluded from the quest (or anything special from having a Tattered Cape). Perhaps it was removed because there won't be a use for it other than being a Gwen souvenir (and sparking Gwen speculation). Therefore, I don't need it.

2) If they implement a future Gwen quest and the Tattered Cape does become a quest item for it - I would expect them to have the Tattered Cape available again (to not exclude new players). Therefore, I don't need it right now.

I'm not going to bother buying it because storage space is already at a premium for me (yes, that one slot makes a big difference because I'm out of mules). I'd hate to not have it and later find out I'm left out of something cool. I wish someone (like Gaille) would just clear up whether we need this or not - since it was removed without any explanation and has sparked so much speculation.

Interested in hearing what your thoughts are.

All Gwen things are pure speculation. They have never confirmed or denied any of it really. Personally, I like the urban myth-like quality about it. I have a Gwen collection with everything thus far. It's fun. May never be useful. Still fun, I love the lil' pyro. The removal of the tattered cape was months ago. They haven't explained it yet, doubt they will now.

He is saying that the capes are probably useless or will be used later in a quest and given at that time.

On topic, I never really got into the whole gwen speculation thing so I always thought they were a waste of inventory space.

Well, removal of it was pretty much pointless waste of developer time if you ask me ... just like removal Mignas the Meek.

If it aint bugged/inbalanced don't fix it ...

The only reason I was going to buy one is because that's the only option I have right now. I just didn't want to miss out on something cool in the future if they put a Gwen quest in. However, now I just have a feeling they took it out because it's useless... in which case I won't bother... and was interested in seeing what other people were thinking.

To the OP: Both options #1 and #2 are correct....however, it's just cool to have one, even if it serves no point.

Your storage slots are yours alone, use them as you see fit.

they removed it to stop speculation because Gwen is dead, in fact there neevr was a Gwen. You are all imagining things.

I'd be inclined to keep it or get one myself. Even though it may not relate to a specific quest it could always unlock some kind of harmless easter egg or joke for long term players.

I'm sure they would not make it so that you would have to have one non-obtainable item to do a quest.

Like the golden box in the desert and the collector who makes bricks that you can't get the items for, loose ends with no real purpose...

I held onto Gwen's stuff for a long, long time, but I finally deleted them because I needed the storage space -- wish there was space to hold fun stuff like that.

I dont think it is possible for a company to scheme this all way up ahead. At the creation of CH1, they might have had vague ideas about the following chapters. Maybe GW:P would have been a mistake and they shouldnt continue the story, it would have been stupid to use money to develop the story for a sequel 2 years later. No, you start writing the sequel at the moment you think it will pay off. All stuff lying around, being loose ends to quests, will remain loose ends for a long while. And I support your idea, that Anet will not screw his players by saying suddenly: ah 2 bad for u spanky, you should have kept that item for 2 years to show ur dedication to our game. Now u cant do that leet quest with the leet rewards.

If they did remove it, it was because it was an item with no current or planned use. They're not going to make an item drop for a limited time, remove it, and then make it required for something some months down the road.

Now the Tapestry Shard and the Broken Flute, all bets are still off on
